This week at Glasser Preschool (10/14/13)

Glasser Preschool, 1235 N. Harlem Ave., Oak Park, IL 60302.  (708) 386-3937 It was great to have so many people come out for our 2nd Annual Walk- a- thon last weekend.  Check out the pictures on the Berkshire Door.  Even if your child was not able to join us for the walk – you can still make a walk a thon donation by check or on line Walkathon donations can be made through our website www.glasserpreschool.com.

Please make a check payable to “Glasser Preschool” and give it to Marci by October 15th.  Our gift card program has a separate bank account - so please ALWAYS write a separate check when paying for the gift cards.  Thanks. 

Auction Meeting
Interested in getting more involved at Glasser Preschool and Oak Park Temple?  Auction 2014 is set for February 1, 2014 and we are looking for volunteers to help with planning.  Please join us at a planning meeting on Tuesday, October 15th at 7PM at Glasser/OPT.

Wednesday, October 16th Lunch (11 AM to Noon)/Music (Noon to1 PM or 2:30 – 3:30 PM):  turkey meatloaf muffins, local peas, fresh honeydew, whole grain bread

Thursday, October 17th Lunch (11 AM to Noon):  pasta shells with cream sauce, fresh cucumbers, apple slices

Friday, October 18th

Lunch (11 AM to Noon):   cheesy quesadillas, squash medley, fruit salad

Afternoon Literacy Class (2:30 – 3:30 PM)

Fall Tots Class  9:30 – 10:30 AM

Fire Drill

We will be having our monthly fire drill.

Scholastic Book Orders Due
You can order books either on line or by paper order.  Books orders must be turned in by Friday, October 18th.  Each dollar you spend earns Glasser Preschool bonus points towards free books for our school.  Book orders can be placed on line or by a check make checks payable to Scholastic Books. 

Walk a Thon $$ Due

GPS Shabbat
Every Friday the entire school will meet at 10:30 AM/2:00 PM in the Chapel to celebrate Shabbat together.  Please feel free to join us in this singing celebration. 

Tot Shabbat
Monthly  we invite you and your family to join together for a special Shabbat service for our little ones.  It is designed to include simple prayers and songs appropriate for Shabbat, our weekly day of rest, and to share the spirit of being together.  The October Service will be held on Friday, October 18th at 7PM and conclude about 7:30 PM with an Oneg, a time to have cookies and juice and quiet activities, in the Youth Lounge.  We ask everyone who attends to bring a small nut free treat to share (a dozen or so cookies, fruit, etc.).  Thank you in advance for the parent volunteers for the Oneg: the Kessler/Utter family.

Sunday, October 20

Holiday Food Basket Meeting
Come and learn all about the Holiday Food and Gift Basket program from 9 AM to Noon on Sunday, October 20th .  Sign up on October 20th at Oak Park Temple or email and provide full name, street address, phone number and how many individuals you would like to sponsor.  More information is available at the HFGB Facebook page and the Community of Congregations web site.

Chevra Kadisha Meeting
Oak Park Temple and West Suburban Temple have joined together to form the West Suburban Chevra Kadisha, the first of its kind in the western suburbs, to make ritual called taharah a possibility for our community.  When requested by a family member, a team of our volunteers will come to the funeral home to wash, purify and dress the deceased for burial.  Join Chevra Kadisha on Sunday, October 20th at noon to learn more about the Chevra Kadisha and how you may want to get involved.  For more information, contact Cantor Julie Green
