The Tigers/Bears classroom needs some uncarved pumpkins for an activity they are doing.  If you have one that you no longer need – please drop it off in Room 24.  Thanks.

In January 2009 due to fiscal problems, the Village of Oak Park discontinued the hearing and vision screening program in Oak Park preschools and day cares. This early screening is very important because young children do not really know how they are supposed to see or hear.  Consequently, they may not complain about faulty vision or hearing. This testing is now mandated by DCFS.  The Collaboration for Early Childhood Care and Education has undertaken the administration of this program since 2009.  They have received some grant money to do this, but the cost of the administration of the program far exceeds the grants they have received.  To offset the cost of administering this screening program, the Collaboration has asked for a $5 contribution for each child screened at our preschool.  We are asking families to contribute a minimum of $5 per child to the Collaboration for this screening.  Please give Marci cash or checks made payable to “Collaboration for Early Childhood.”

Please don’t forget to dress your child appropriately for outdoor play.  We go outside whenever possible so please remember the hats, gloves and coats when appropriate.  Make sure your child’s name is in all clothing items!
