This week at Glasser Preschool (9/30/13)
Glasser Preschool, 1235 N. Harlem Ave., Oak Park, IL 60302. (708) 386-3937 Our 2nd Annual Walk a thon is coming (Sunday October 6th) – have you started getting your pledges yet? On line Walkathon donations can be made through our website www.glasserpreschool.com.
As we gear up for another school year and think about how we want our home life to feel and what routines and traditions we want to implement, our friends at InterfaithFamily/Chicago have a series of 8 emails to give you lots of ideas about spiritual parenting. This is great for interfaith families, but the traditions and reminders about the meaning of everything is helpful for all of us! If you would like to receive the emails, let me know by October 11th.
Volunteer assignments were distributed earlier this week. Please check your child’s backpack, folder, cubby for your assignment. Thank you in advance for your support and participation at Glasser Preschool.

Tot Shabbat
Monthly during the year, we invite you and your family to join together for a special Shabbat service for our little ones. It is designed to include simple prayers and songs appropriate for Shabbat, our weekly day of rest, and to share the spirit of being together. The Tot Shabbat service is lead by Oak Park Temple’s Rabbi Max Weiss and/or Cantor Julie Green. We will be alternating monthly between Friday evening services beginning at 7:00 PM and Saturday morning services beginning at 9:00 AM. Following both evening and morning services we will have an Oneg in the Youth Lounge. This is a time to have a snack and participate in quiet activities. The service and Oneg together will last about an hour. We ask everyone who attends to bring a small nut free treat to share at the Oneg. Please join us for our first Tot Shabbat of the school year on Saturday, September 28thth at 9 AM.

2nd Annual GPS Walk-a-thon
Welcome to the second annual Glasser preschool walkathon! Please join us on Sunday, October 6th as we kick off our fundraising year, socialize, and get our kids moving!
What: Children and parents will circle a one block course bordered by Berkshire, Marion, Greenfield and Belleforte. Parents, grandparents, and friends pledge $ for each lap completed, or make a flat donation. We hope you'll join us for a picnic lunch (everyone brings their own food) before
the event. Lemonade and light snacks provided after laps are completed!
When: Check-in at the Berkshire entrance begins at 12:45. The walka-thon starts at 1:15. The bring-your-own picnic lunch begins at 12:00.
How: This is a great way for grandparents, aunts & uncles, and friends to get involved with the school by making a pledge and/or by walking alongside! Keep in mind that the children will likely only complete 1-3 laps, so make pledges accordingly. Flat donations are welcomed! Please fill out the pledge form and return it, along with donations, at the event or before October 18, 2013. Or make your donations on line at our Glasser Preschool website www.glasserpreschool.com.
Why: This is a great way to get our kids active, while making new friends and supporting our preschool.
If you are unable to attend the walk-a-thon, you can still participate in one of two ways! First, by making a tax-deductible $50 donation to Glasser Preschool. Second, by making a pledge for every lap completed by Miss Marci! We look forward to seeing everyone there!
